The Ideological and Political Theory Teaching Team Led by Dean Qin Xuan Won the Municipal Special Award in First National Teaching Innovatio

The Beijing Division of the First National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers concluded recently. The teaching team of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era led by professor Qin Xuan, dean of our Academy, won the special award, and will participate in the national contest on behalf of the Beijing Division. The team includes researchers Song Youwen, Wang Heng, and Chang Qingxin of our Academy.

As a new and important compulsory course in the education and teaching of ideological and political theory in colleges and universities, Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era adheres to the unity of being politically oriented, systematic, pertinent, practical, and up-to-date. With the guide of scientific theory, young students as the core, and the goal of fostering a new generation, connotative teaching model has been formed through preliminary exploration based on party literature, which is supported by high-quality research results and supplemented by practical teaching, with the method of special topic teaching and heuristic and problem-based teaching, with the platform of learning in large-scale classes and discussions in small classes. Through education and teaching, students are guided to stay up to date with the times and study theoretical innovation and development, understand the system integrity of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era, and correctly understand the world and China’s development trend, Chinese characteristics and international comparison, responsibility of the times and historical mission, therefore cherishing high ambitions and working in a down-to-earth way, strengthening their commitment to the Four Consciousnesses, and enhancing ability to promote the great socialist cause with Chinese characteristics.

Themed with promoting teaching innovation to create first-class courses, the National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers aims to thoroughly apply the spirit of the National Education Conference and China Education Modernization 2035, fully implement the guiding principles from the National College Undergraduate Education Work Conference for a new era. Centered on teaching innovation and learning revolution, the contest guides college teachers to concentrate on teaching and proactively pursue excellence in teaching, creates a bellwether of college teaching reform, and promotes the “quality revolution” of higher education.

A total of 286 teaching teams in the Beijing area participated in the contest and 84 teams won awards (accounting for 29.37% of the contestants, including 9 special awards, 17 first prizes, 28 second prizes, and 30 third prizes).
